About Libby

What do you write when people come to a page 100% dedicated to you and your life?

I’ve tried this a few times now and it never gets easier.

Last time I tried it turned into a book!

While you probably know me as a swimmer first, like all of us out there, I’m more than just my professional achievements.

That said, I always find it easiest to start with the swimming facts.

Swimming

Lisbeth Constance Trickett, OAM (née Lenton; born 28 January 1985) is a retired Australian swimmer. She was a gold medallist at the 2004 Summer Olympics, the 2008 Summer Olympics, and the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was the world record holder in the short-course (25m) 100-metre freestyle.

So there you go.

Tens of thousands of hours of training, travel, competing and stressing, distilled into three short sentences. Thanks Wikipedia!

It’s always funny how what you do in such a short period of your life can define so much of it.

Family Life

OK.

The good bit: my family. Family is and has always been a massive part of my life and happiness.

I grew up in Townsville in North Queensland as the youngest of four kids, mum driving us all around to swimming all the time and doing her best to keep us entertained and healthy. For a range of reasons, dad wasn’t really on the scene much as a child — he worked long hours and eventually he and mum got divorced. I stopped talking to him as an adult.

These days, I have an amazing husband — Luke — and three beautiful children.

Home life is chaotic but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

After his own impressive swimming career, Luke became a financial analyst and now runs Blue Stamp Company, a fund described as “one of Australia’s best-kept secret or ‘low profile’ investment funds.” He also co-founded and is CEO of Marmalade Group, who provides immediate invoice payment services to businesses.

I couldn’t be prouder of what he’s achieved and the person he’s been the whole way through. He’s my biggest supporter and a wonderful father, but he also lets me know when I may have gone “Full Libby” which I definitely need sometimes.

Partnerships

It’s a well-worn path: become publicly known (I refuse to say ‘famous’!) for achieving something difficult, then retire and cash in on that image. Spend the rest of your days swimming in Lamborghinis, Rolexes and champagne for days.

Ahhhhh not quite.

Despite the distinct lack of bougie luxury brands lining up compete for my affection, I seriously can’t say how thankful and lucky I feel to have been able to partner with some amazing organisations.

I’ve always been really deliberate about my partnerships; I’ve always believed in being intentional about things on the partnership front.

At the moment I’m partnered with:

  • Starlight Children’s Foundation

  • Beyond Blue

  • Coastrek

  • Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Association (ANZMHA)

  • Poolwerx

Passion Projects

In addition to raising 4 kids and working with my amazing partners, I also occasionally find a few hours here and there to create things that make me (and hopefully other people) feel good. Between podcasts and personal development training, I’ve managed start and keep doing 3 major programs.
